On March 29 and 30, 2016, the Assisted Living Association of Georgia (ALAG) hosted their 2016 Spring Conference at Chateau Elan Winery and Resort in Braselton, Georgia.
President Jill Griffin started off the conference on Tuesday with a welcome speech and introduced Susan Lecklitner, RN, who spoke about diversion in senior living residences. Other topics covered on Tuesday included VA aide and attendance by Kevin Gibbs, as well as a panel discussion on industry trends and topics. After lunch, Greg Thompson, regional vice president at Premier Senior Living, gave a presentation titled “Baby Boomers Moving On In.”
On Wednesday the conference kicked off with an introduction of the 2016 ALAG officers, and then Ralph Cowart, administrator and owner of Southern Manor, Southern Manor at Home, and Lakeview Manor, spoke about depression in elderly residents. Late that day, the conference planning committee and some friends performed a skit and presentation on implementing cognitive behavioral strategies in dementia residents. Lastly, Elaine Wright gave an update from HFRD on PCH/ALC rules and regulations.
